Silent No More Holds 'Lugar Retirement' RallyHundreds of people gathered Saturday in Warsaw to express their concern with Senator Richard Lugar seeking re-election.
Lugar faces state treasurer and senate candidate Richard Mourdock in the May 2012 primary.
Kosciusko County Silent No More hosted a “Senator Lugar’s Roadmap To Retirement Rally” Saturday. The rally was scheduled to be held at the Kosciusko County Courthouse, but due to rain was moved to Mad Anthony’s.
Friday marked the three- year anniversary of the founding of Kosciusko Silent No More that was founded on April 15, 2008.
The event was co-sponsored by third district congressional Taxed Enough Already party groups including Fort Wayne 912, Steuben County 912, Whitley County Patriots, FreedomMaker Coalition of Indiana, Elkhart County Patriots, Dekalb 9-12, and Noble County 9-12.
The two-hour rally was attended by approximately 130 people.
Monica Boyer, Kosciusko County Silent No More co-founder, said the purpose of the rally was to educate people on Lugar’s voting record, and how he has become more liberal.
“Lugar started out on a good path and we thank him for his service to our state, but for the last five to six years his voting record has become liberal,” Boyer said.
She said Lugar is not hearing the heart of Hoosiers anymore, and he has become a part of the D.C. infrastructure and said he has served his time and it is time to elect a conservative.
Pat Miller, WOWO 1190  talk show host, Fort Wayne, was the keynote speaker.
Miller said he is a conservative and is concerned about conserving the principles of the Constitution.
“We need representation that doesn’t just know what the Constitution looks like, but know what it says and when they raise their hand to pledge to protect and defend the Constitution they need to know what that means,” Miller said.
