The North Manchester United Methodist Church will have a silent auction Sept. 19 for the contents and re-usable structures of the house at the corner of Second and Sycamore streets in North Manchester.
Items included will be windows, woodwork, a beveled oval glass door and frame, oak floors, stairway, kitchen cupboards and appliances, bathroom fixtures, pocket doors, some copper and aluminum items and more. The house will be demolished.
Items won will need to be retrieved by the bidder before Oct. 5 at the purchaser's expense. The house will be open for public viewing Thursday from 2 to 7 p.m. The bidding will begin Sept. 19 at 10 a.m. with final bids in at 2 p.m.
Registration to be a bidder will begin at 9 a.m. on the front porch.
The house, better known as the Manifold House, served as the church's youth center for a number of years. It was built in the early 1900s, and owned by Rosemary and Orin Manifold previous to being purchased by the church in 1992. It is a two-story home with charm and character.
The church hopes others may be able to make use of some of its charm again. The church hopes to then use the land in the future for expansion or a multi-purpose building. If you re-hab houses or have carpenter skills, don't miss this opportunity.
