SIDNEY — Sidney Town Council members will hold a special meeting to review the contract provided by HWC Engineering for the future park and trail plan.
"There is no way that I can vote on this today," said Councilwoman Sharon Rancourt. She expressed concern she had not had enough time to look over the contract and make a sound decision.
Allie Daugherty, of HWC Engineering, told the council she would answer any questions they might have as the process moves forward.
The council agreed to have a special meeting to review the HWC Engineering contract at 7 p.m. June 24. The meeting will be open to the public.
In other business, the council noted a fundraiser held for Tom Davis' idea for veteran flags was successful.
The Indiana Department of Transportation has agreed to mark a few stalls as 15-minute parking spaces at the intersection of Center Street and U.S. 13, a step taken to minimize blind spots. It will be the responsibility of the town of Sidney to purchase engine brake signs and post them.
Town cleanup was planned for Sept. 13, when the town will provide two 30-yard dumpsters by the school for the people of Sidney to throw away their junk.
The Harney property demolition has been completed.
A few citizens had concerns about residents obeying town ordinances to mow lawns properly and remove junk and trash from yards. The council said they were giving notices and continuing the process if residents did not comply.
Concerns were also expressed about next month's requirement to start recording meetings and making them available to the public. The council reassured those in attendance that everything would be in place by next month.
The next Sidney Town Council meeting will be 6:30 p.m. July 14 at the Sidney-Jackson Township Fire Station.
