SIDNEY - Sidney Town Council approved moving forward with an additional grant application for a potential park in town during a council meeting Monday.
Kosciusko County Community Coordinator Amy Roe attended the meeting to provide an update on the park project. The park concept was approved at the council's June meeting. Roe said applications for grants through the Community Amenities Program and the K21 Health Foundation were submitted, with Roe estimating a decision from K21 to happen in October.
Roe noted after learning a grant through Norfolk Southern would not be possible, she discovered another option through GameTime's Community Champions Playground Grant program. Councilwoman Sharon Rancourt asked if GameTime would require a match, and Roe stated it would not.

In other business, Kosciusko County Republican Chairman Mike Ragan attended the meeting to let residents know Sidney's vote center at Amazing Grace Community Church is one of three in the county that may potentially be closed, with the exception of remaining open during small town elections. Ragan said he was opposed to the idea.
The Kosciusko County Election Board will hold a public meeting at 11 a.m. Aug. 24 in the clerk's office, to amend the current vote center plan. Comments will be accepted prior to or at the meeting.
