Continuously serving Kosciusko County since 1854
The 21st annual Shrine Turkey Shoot is planned from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Beeson’s Gun Range.
The event includes food and activities for the entire family. Participants who come for a shoot may bring their own gun or the club can provide one. Shells are provided.
Prizes will include Maple Leaf Farms Duck and Serenade Food Products, Walmart Turkeys and cash. Children age 14 and younger may shoot a .410 to win a Hatfield Youth .410 donated by Two Bear Arms of Etna Green (winner determined Sunday). A raffle for a Mossburg 590M 12 ga. is available, and there will be a shoot for a Remington 870 home defense 12 ga.
The event will also include a sportsmen’s silent auction. Donations for the silent auction are still being accepted. Call 574-527-5351 to make a donation.
The annual Shrine Turkey Shoot is held to support the Kosciusko County Shrine Club, which is celebrating 79 years and is best known for the annual trip for third-graders to the Shrine Circus in Fort Wayne.
More than 65,000 students have been taken to the circus free of charge since 1957.
The club supports many other local and national philanthropic organizations. In 2017, a contribution to the Shrine Children’s Hospital totaled $7,500. On average, the county has over 125 patients treated a year, regardless of the ability to pay.
