SYRACUSE - Show tunes will get stuck in your head after the Wawasee High School annual Pops Spectacular 2009.
Perhaps the song left spinning in your head will be "Under the Sea" from "The Little Mermaid," or maybe "All That Jazz" from "Chicago."
Other musical numbers contending for space in your head from the spectacular will be "There's No Business Like Show Business," "Little Shop of Horrors," "The Ballad of Sweeney Todd," "Mama, I'm A Big Girl Now," "Nine to Five," "Life is a Highway," "Singin' in the Rain," "Sister Act Medley" and "Ladies' Choice."
Presented by the high school choral department, the musical event will be May 8 and 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the WHS auditorium. The theme for this year's show is "Show Tunes."
The finale, "My Wish," will be a tribute to the seniors of the department.
The beginning choir, advanced chorus and Vocal Motion will perform. Suzanne Schwartz is the choreographer for the beginning and advanced choruses. Jeff Cox is the choreographer for Vocal Motion.
Jamie Culbertson is the keyboard accompanist, and Deb Sweazy is the costumer.
Ken Strong Productions handles the lighting and special effects.
Connie Meadows is the show and choirs director.
Cost of admission is $7. Tickets may be purchased from any choir member or at the WHS front office.
Emcees for the show are Lance Lannen, Manuel Cabellero, Nicholas Frecker, Leah Shock and Katherine Crosby.
Solos and comedy routines also will be performed as part of the show.
