NORTH WEBSTER - Five officers from three police agencies responded to a call of shots fired at a Barbee Lake-area residence. One man was taken into custody.
Peter Joseph Radcliffe, 39, of 40 EMS B53 Lane, Warsaw, is charged with criminal recklessness. He was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail, where he is being held in lieu of $3,000 bond.
According to a Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department report, Radcliffe, Steve Stout, 45, of EMS B53 Lane, Warsaw, and Dale Wilson, 31, of Goshen, were drinking at Stout's residence when Radcliffe got upset and left.
Radcliffe reportedly returned a short time later and pointed a gun through the open front door of Stout's residence, allegedly threatening to shoot Wilson.
Wilson told police that he jumped out of the line of fire and Stout then charged Radcliffe and wrestled the gun away from him. Stout said he fired the single-shot 16-gauge shotgun into the air to empty it so that Radcliffe could not get ahold of the gun again or shoot anyone.
When police arrived in the area, Radcliffe was spotted using a pay telephone at Jot-Em-Down Store. Police said Radcliffe was having a hard time standing up and smelled of alcohol.
A neighbor who witnessed the incident told police that he saw Stout and Radcliffe get into a physical altercation, then helped Stout take the gun away from Radcliffe.
The weapon and a spent casing found on the floor of Stout's residence were taken into evidence.
North Webster Police Department and Indiana State Police assisted at the scene.
