Shop for Cure JM Raises Over $13K

Posted
The 2014 Annual Christmas Shop for Cure JM raised over $13,000 and set a new record, according to organizer Kristine Alderfer.
“We are so thankful to all of our sponsors, who include Penguin Point, Willie 103.5, Rabb Water, Dorothy's Party Shop, Redpath Fruth Funeral Home, Dental Solutions, Cafe Mod, Alderfer Bergen & Co and Sorg Nissan,” she stated. “We are also thankful to all of the vendors who donated a significant portion of their sales and to the shoppers who came and supported our event. Thank you to Sacred Heart School for the use of their facilities. Thank you to the volunteers who selflessly gave of their time, to help this cause.”
Eight-year-old Katherine Alderfer, Winona Lake, has been fighting Juvenile Dermatomyositis for almost five years. Her disease is incurable and painful. The disease attacks the muscles in her body, making it hard to have a normal life. Only three out of a million children suffer from this disease.
All of the funds raised at this event will go toward researching a cure. You can learn more about her disease at www.curejm.org
For every car that was sold in November, Sorg Nissan made a donation to the cause.
“We are so thankful for their donation of $1,900,” Kristine Alderfer said.
Next year's event will be Nov. 7 at the Sacred Heart School gym.
