NORTH WEBSTER - A North Webster man shot on Halloween was expected to be released from a Fort Wayne hospital this past weekend.
At 2:14 p.m. Oct. 31, Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department officers arrived at 25 EMS W 23 C Lane, North Webster, to find John Miller, 30, of 35 EMS W 23C Lane, sitting on his neighbor's porch with a single, small caliber gun shot wound to his chest.
Miller said a man approached him, asked Miller his name, and when Miller responded, the man shot Miller once on the right side of his chest.
Miller was transported to Lutheran Hospital via helicopter and underwent surgery Wednesday morning.
Police said Miller was expected to be released from Lutheran either Saturday or Sunday but couldn't confirm that information.
Lutheran Hospital declined comment on Miller's status. Police said they wouldn't release if or when Miller would be released for his safety.
The investigation is ongoing.
Miller described the shooter as a 5-foot, 6-inch white male with dark hair wearing a green shirt and blue jeans.
