Shirley Ann Ward, 80, Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, passed away at 1:59 a.m. Oct. 22, 2014, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
She was born June 7, 1934, in West Frankfort, Ill., to Clyde Augustus and Beulah Aiken Pittman. On June 27, 1956, in Romulus, N.Y., she married Ronald F. “Ron” Ward, who passed away March 26, 2005.
She had been a resident of Kosciusko County for the past two years, and was a former resident of Peru.
She was a graduate of Jewish Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis, Mo., and was a registered nurse.  She traveled to several states with her husband’s USAF career. They resided in Germany, New York, Illinois, Mississippi, Colorado, North Dakota; Okinawa, Japan; and Indiana.
She will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Kathy (and spouse Jim) MacDonald, Warsaw; Karen (and spouse Duane) Springer, Fort Wayne; a son, Michael (and spouse Missy) Ward, Niceville, Fla.; and seven grandchildren: Matthew MacDonald, Kathryn Ackers, Sarah Sinclair, Joshua and Austin Springer and McKenzie and Mason Ward. She also was preceded in death by her parents.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Hope Cemetery, Peru, and officiated by the Rev. Robert Clark.
Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw.
