The U.S. Postal Service is expecting to deliver 20 billion pieces of mail this Christmas, and shipping deadlines are approaching.
The Postal Service is recommending all first-class and priority mail be sent by Dec. 20, and that express mail be sent by Dec. 22. Mail sent by Parcel Post should be in the mail by Dec. 15.
Mail destined for servicemen and women serving around the world other than Iraq and Afghanistan should be mailed no later than Dec. 18. All military mail, regardless of destination, is sent at domestic mail rates.
"This is our busiest time of year," said Warsaw Postmaster Bill Belisle. "Our employees across the country are moving and delivering the mail."
The Warsaw Post Office retail window will be open Dec. 24 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The last mail pick up of the day at the post office will be at 5 p.m. The post office will staff their retail lobby for picking up packages until 5 p.m.
The Winona Lake Post Office retail window will close at noon Dec. 24, and will staff their retail lobby for customers picking up packages from 2 to 5 p.m.
