The Honeywell Center will welcome country music band Shilo to the Ford Theater stage Jan. 19 at 7:30 p.m. Huckleberry Blue, a country music band from Columbia City, will perform as the opening act.
Tickets are $10 and will be available at the Center's box office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets also may be purchased by calling 260-563-1102 or visiting www.honeywellcenter.org
The band's first single - titled "Dodgin' a Ford in my Chevrolet" - now is playing on country music radio. The musicians opened for country legends Charlie Daniels and Lee Ann Womack in 2006 and John Michael Montgomery in 2007. They also have performed during the Center's Summer Plaza Concert Series.
Shilo's music focuses on hits from various country music stars. The band's sound, described as a little "country rock," is peppered with the sounds of fiddle, mandolin, piano, bass, drums and their own lyrics.
In 2004, Shilo left the stage with a second-place finish in the Colgate Country Showdown at the Indiana State Fair.
More locally, fans may be interested to know that the band's bass player, Randy Blankenship, grew up in North Manchester. And Doug Chopson Jr. has roots in Andrews.
The group's music also appeals to people of all ages, according to Ashli Pershing, box office manager for the Honeywell Center.
"Parents, grandparents and kids were all attendees at Shilo's last performance," Pershing said. "We recommend that people buy their tickets early - this will be a popular concert."
