Sheriff, Deputies Take Oath Of OfficeAt 8 a.m. Friday in the old courtroom of the Kosciusko County Courthouse, the Honorable Judge Chris Kehler performed the oath of office and code of ethics to Sheriff Jim Smith and the deputies of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office.
Smith was elected sheriff in the 2022 election.
Following the oath of office, Smith addressed the merit deputies, announcing Chris McKeand as chief deputy and Michelle Hyden as sheriff office matron.
Smith also announced several interim positions: Michael Mulligan as patrol commander; Kevin Gelbaugh, jail commander; Joshua Spangle, investigations commander; Sgt. Travis Shivley will continue to as training coordinator; Douglas Light, public information officer; Deb Carpenter, director of Central Dispatch; Jerrod Jones, director of Work Release.
Smith shared his vision of family, communication and trust and moving forward to serve the citizens of Kosciusko County, according to a news release provided by the KCSO.
