A lot has taken place over the last six months through Fellowship Missions and it has been humbling to see how God is working in our community. We want to thank you for all of your prayers, well wishes and overwhelming support. Without your help, a lot of what we have been able to do, and what will be done in the future, would not be possible.
Most of you know that we have encountered some obstacles along the way in our pursuit of establishing a permanent homeless shelter here in Warsaw. There have been a lot of questions, speculation and misunderstanding about what a shelter would look like, how it would function, what effect it will have on its neighbors, etc. We have had a great deal of really good conversations. During these times we have made some new friends and gained support in areas that we never expected, and we are very grateful to God for all of it. Of course, we have also received some opposition. That has never taken us off guard, and does not surprise God either.
In the past couple of days, there have been a couple of media outlets that have written stories about the petition that was filed with the Board of Zoning Appeals. The articles included the names of people who signed the petition. That document is a matter of public record and anyone can get a copy. Obviously, this being the hot-button issue that it is, there have been a lot of comments made. We have seen a great amount of support, and again, for that we are grateful.
We would like to ask for your continued support of our downtown businesses. We can have differences of opinion on the issues and still work together. The most important thing to us at Fellowship Missions is to honor Christ in all that we do. We also want this effort to be a whole community effort, not just the work of a few. We respect the concerns of our friends in the downtown area, and are trusting that God will reveal a solution that is best for us all. We want the support of the whole community as we move forward.
We are already working on temporary housing for this winter, and we'll keep you informed as details become available. Again, thank you so much for your prayers and support.
