COLUMBIA CITY - Sharon Kaye Young, 71, of Columbia City, however, currently living in Miller's Merry Manor, Warsaw, passed away at 4 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008, in her residence.

She was born Nov. 14, 1937, in Kendallville, to Richard and Mary Jane Eichelbaugh Decker-Jackson. She married Wilford O. Young, who survives in Columbia City and Warsaw.

She lived most of her life in Noble County, moving to Whitley County in 1991. She graduated from Wolf Lake High School in 1955. A registered nurse, she graduated from Indiana University School of Nursing in 1958. She worked at Whitley County Hospital from 1958-76, then worked for her brother, Dr. Jeffrey Decker, until retiring in 1999. She was a member of Merriam Christian Chapel and attended Warsaw Community Church. She was also a devoted Warsaw Tiger basketball fan where she was affectionately known as "Grandma T."

Also surviving are two sons, Michael L. (and spouse Dana) Young, Fayetteville, Ariz., and Stuart L. (and spouse Courtney) Young, Charlotte, N.C.; a daughter, Julie K. (and spouse Tim) Stout, Warsaw; nine grandchildren, Jake, Jessica, Josh, James, Erin and Emma Young, and Kayla, Jared and Justin Stout. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Diane S. and Phyllis A. Decker; and a brother, Dr. Jeffrey Decker.

Services will be at noon Wednesday at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, with Pastor Steven Pulley of Merriam Christian Chapel officiating. A private burial will be at a later date at Lakeview Cemetery, Kendallville.

Calling is from 1 to 3 and 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
