Sewer Response

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:
This is in response to the recent letter from Richard Zarse who commented on the easement situation with Lakeland Regional Sewer District (LRSD).  I do not reflect on the accuracy of his comments as they relate to LRSD, or any other issue involving LRSD.
However, I must set the record straight relative to misinformation harpoons thrown by Mr. Zarse toward Turkey Creek Regional Sewer District (TCRSD) or Lake Wawasee and environs.  Evidently in an attempt to convey the message that he knows a lot about sewer systems, he states 15 years ago the TCRSD initial rate was $37.00 per month and that it “ . . . was almost doubled in 15 years.”  If not refuted, most people are likely to believe such an “expert” as Mr. Zarse.
The facts are as follows: TCRSD has been in operation for over 21½ years, its initial rate was $40.45 and it was not changed for 11 years.  The present rate is $52.72.  That is an increase of $12.27 (30 percen t) in 21½ years.  What other product or service can Mr. Zarse find which now costs only 30 percent more than it did 21½ years ago.
Mr. Zarse should verify the content of his letters.
