MENTONE– Mentone Town Council Monday approved for Town Engineer James Emans to seek costs to replace a sewer line. Emans said the sewer line that needs to be replaced is at Morgan Street, south of Main Street. “There is 500 feet of 18-inch pipe that has failed recently and is beyond its material life span,” Emans said. He said the pipe is cracked and has collapsed. He will have the costs estimated for the council to review before their budget work session at 6 p.m. June 28. In other business, Josh Shepherd, utilities superintendent, said hydrants will be flushed in town Sunday and Monday. Shepherd informed the council he is working with Bill Holder, county GIS coordinator, to make a database of cemetery plots. The council approved a software agreement for $5,400 with Keystone for the clerk’s office. Jim Eads, town marshal, thanked Krystal Lybarger for the video of farms she did for Mentone Egg Festival. Jill Gross, council president, thanked police and fire departments for their work during the Egg Festival.
