Since I have not seen any other letters concerning Tippecanoe Lake area property owners joining the Lakeland Regional Sewer District, it got me to thinking about the timing of the petitioners' efforts. It appears that they have deliberately waited until many of the property owners have closed their homes up for the season to make their application in order to stymie opposition efforts. They want our county commissioners to approve this while many property owners are away and unaware of the proposal.
These tactics are despicable. Property owners deserve time to weigh the implications of such a move, not the least of which are the enormous costs involved and loss of property valuation. What would you pay for a home with a $200+ sewer bill?
Property owners went through this once before in 1995, and for the first time ever for such a proposal, defeated it. Property owners deserve a voice in this. To our county commissioners, turn down this effort!
