Several Area Players Earn IBCA All-State Recognition

Several players from the Times-Union coverage area or nearby received all-star recognition from the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association on Thursday. Warsaw guard Paul Marandet was named to the Senior Large School (Classes 3A and 4A) All-State team, and Manchester’s Chase Fierstos was tabbed for the Senior Small School All-State team. Junior Kyle Mangas of Warsaw was named to the Underclass Large School All-State team, along with NorthWood’s Vincent Miranda. Whitko junior guard Nate Walpole was tabbed for the Underclass Small School All-State team. Three Northern Lakes Conference seniors earned honorable mention: John Anders of Plymouth, Kurtis Hochstetler of Northridge, and Braxton Linville of NorthWood. Plymouth junior Nick Felke was underclass honorable mention. David McAtee of Manchester and Carson Blair of Southwood represented the Three Rivers Conference as small school underclass honorable mention selections. Columbia City’s Brachen Hazen was a Senior Supreme 15 selection, and his brother Parker was named to the Underclass Supreme 15 by the IBCA.
