Serial Intruder Strikes Again

Posted

At least three more houses were broken into this weekend by the person police suspect of committing dozens of burglaries this summer.

One house, in Lincoln Park Addition, was reportedly burglarized Saturday night. Regina Hall, of North CR 175E, Warsaw, reported a tote bag and purse stolen from her house. Entry was reportedly gained through an unlocked sliding glass door.

According to police reports, the tote bag was on a chair in front of the sliding glass door, and the purse was hanging over a stool in the kitchen.

Police also found bicycle tracks in Hall's backyard and similar bike tracks behind most of the homes in the neighborhood.

A second break-in was reported at 1:31 a.m. Sunday in the Patterson Place Addition.

Bradley Ryan Van Ness, Lydia Street, reported surprising an intruder inside his home. Van Ness said he yelled to alert his parents and the intruder escaped.

He described the intruder as being approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, of medium build, and wearing a teal jogging suit, teal gloves and a teal mask with eye holes.

The home of Don Sweatland, on Acorn Court in Timber Ridge, was discovered Sunday to have been entered and ransacked.

Police believe the same person is responsible for nearly 40 break-ins in the Warsaw area since May. Among the victims is Warsaw's mayor.

All incidents are under investigation by the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department and the Warsaw Police Department.
