Seminar Looks To Help Area Become Bicycle Friendly

UPDATE - Zimmer is making its lots near Mad Anthony's available for the event. Bicycle Indiana and the Indiana State Department of Health will co-present a seminar in Warsaw Thursday. The seminar is designed to help communities and businesses learn about the benefits of and process for becoming more “bicycle friendly.” The seminar is at Mad Anthony’s Lake City Taphouse, 113 E. Center St., from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lunch is included. The event is free. This is a designation awarded by the League of American Bicyclists to communities, businesses and universities nationally. Local hosts from the Kosciusko County Vilo Cycling Club include Alan Alderfer, president; Greg Demopoulos, vice president; and Fred Helfrich, advocacy chair. The K21 Health Foundation and Mad Anthony’s Lake City Taphouse are event sponsors. Presenters will include Pete Fritz, healthy communities planner with the Indiana State Department of Health; Mike Lindbloom, physical activity specialist with the Indiana State Department of Health; and Nancy Tibbett, executive director of Bicycle Indiana. The seminar is open to the public, but designed to appeal to city leaders, planners, engineers and avid cyclists.
