Semi Crash Shuts U.S. 30An early morning semi rollover closed U.S. 30 in both directions for several hours this morning.

Around 2 a.m., John E. Davis, 54, of Huber Heights, Ohio, was westbound on U.S. 30. Just after passing through the intersection with Ind. 13, Davis lost control of the truck due to slick road conditions. The truck rolled over in the median, dumping the load into the eastbound lames.

The load contained 31 barrels of flammable resin and corrosive chemicals. Due to the nature of the spill, Kosciusko County Emergency Management and Hazmat specialists from the state were called to the scene to begin cleanup. Forklifts also were used to load remaining cargo onto other vehicles.

U.S. 30 was not reopened until 9:15 a.m.

Davis was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital with minor injuries and is listed in stable condition.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department was assisted at the scene by the Pierceton Fire Department and Wayne Township EMS.
