Posted

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded just after 3 a.m. today to a report of an overturned semi-truck on Ind. 25 near Schilling Road just north of Palestine. According to KCSD Sgt. Chad Hill, Burket Fire Department arrived and helped the driver, Wayne E. Schildhaver, 71, of Dix, Neb., out of the cab. Schildhaver was then transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital to be treated for abdominal pain. Hill said Schildhaver had been traveling on Ind. 25 when he observed a disabled vehicle in the roadway ahead. As he attempted to brake, his trailer began to leave the roadway, causing the semi to flip onto its side. The trailer was carrying 150 hogs and the driver was on his way to a packing plant. Hill said police have been unable to locate a disabled vehicle in the area.
