A home fire occurred at Sellers Lake at 2:40 a.m. today in Warsaw. A neighbor called Central Dispatch, notifying officials of the fire at 5737 S. Lakeshore Drive, according to Gordon Baker, Pierceton Fire Department second lieutenant. Upon arrival, firefighters found a single-story wood frame structure at 5668 S. Lakeshore Drive fully engulfed. The property, owned by Robert Prater, Claypool, was unoccupied at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. The structure was a rental unit. It took firefighters approximately an hour to bring the fire under control due to the high wind. A second structure in close proximity also received minor heat damage. Damage was estimated at $50,000. Pierceton Volunteer Fire Department and Sidney Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene as well as American Red Cross and Multi Township EMS. The fire appears to be suspicious in nature and is currently under investigation, Baker said.
