WINONA LAKE – The Christian Performing Artists’ Fellowship invites you to attend the November Second Sunday Series concert, titled “With Thanksgiving,” featuring guest violinist Gert Kumi.
Included in the program are a violin “Romance” by Beethoven, a piano quintet by Schumann, an Argentinean tango by Pianola, solo piano pieces by Rachmaninoff and a trio for two flutes and cello. As is the custom, the evening will end with singing of a few hymn favorites.
Kumi started playing the violin at age 8 in his native country, Albania. He immigrated to the United States and was accepted at the Juilliard School in New York City as a scholarship student of Stephen Clapp. He graduated from Juilliard with his master’s degree in 2003. Other teachers and coaches have included Dorothy Delay, Ishtar Perlman and Glenn Director.
Kumi has performed across the United States, Europe, South Korea and Africa. He made his orchestral debut at age 15 with the Tirana Philharmonic Orchestra. Kumi has performed at the most important venues in New York City including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Radio City Music Hall, St. George Theater, New York Public Library and Town Hall. Currently, Kumi serves as violin faculty at Anderson University and serves on the faculty at the Masterworks Festival.
