SYRACUSE -ÊThe search for Greg Frericks continues, with Department of Natural Resources officers expecting to find a body somewhere in Lake Wawasee.
Frericks disappeared April 1 and his partially submerged fishing boat was found in the lake the next day, though no sign of him was found. His residence was searched and nothing appeared to be missing or disturbed.
DNR officials began to search the lake using drag nets, sonar, divers, visual patrols and helicopter and plane patrols, but still have not located a single sign of Frericks.
Lt. John Sullivan, DNR, said last week they were able to eliminate a large area of the lake through their searches but still have a one-half square mile area where he could be.
Thursday Sullivan said officers are still "putting forth effort every day," and they had divers out Wednesday, a boat patrol Thursday and airplane patrols throughout the week, along with the regular visual patrols of the lake.
Regarding rumors that Frericks' disappearance may be more suspicious than initially thought, Sullivan said he has not heard any such rumors and "as far as we know he's still in there."
Last week, Sullivan stated that suicide was not factor in the disappearance, as far as he knew.
Detective Todd Sautter, Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, could not be reached for comment on KCSD's end of the investigation. The sheriff's department is investigating the missing person angle of the situation.
