The ground was a little moist and there was the occasional drizzle, but the Cub Scouts had a lot of fun regardless of the conditions, according to a provided press release.
Luckily the bigger downpours occurred after the camp ended each day.
With this year’s space theme, rockets were launched and went out of sight, with only two being recovered. Helium-filled balloons were let go, with each string having one or two Pack numbers attached. A week later, a balloon was found near Churubusco with Pack #3819 (Sacred Heart Pack of Warsaw). In the second week, a balloon was found near Fort Wayne with Pack #3736 (Trinity United Methodist Pack in Warsaw).
In past years, balloons were found throughout the summer. The Pack having the balloon that travelled the farthest will receive a $50 pizza party in the fall. The contest ends Sept. 2, the night of a District Roundtable meeting.
