NORTH WEBSTER – After assisting in June with the Lincolnway Distrist's Cub Day Camp south of Warsaw, the annual Lion's Club Mermaid Festival, 21 Scouts headed up to Chief Camp Little Turtle south of Angola where the active Scouts earned the prestigious Blue Heron Award for the second year in a row. They placed second out of 20 units in the Campsite Gateway competition, earning nearly 80 merit badges while receiving high praise from the camp staff and other leaders for their positive comradery among themselves and their interaction with other Scouts. After a quick cleansing shower, the annual July High Adventure trip took the Scouts north to the “UP” of Michigan where they camped, hiked, canoed, visited the Soo Locks, the WhiteFish Point shipwreck museum and saw bear on and around Grand Isle in 50-degree Lake Superior. After a day visit to Michigan’s Adventure Park, the Scouts returned south in time to help their charter organization and sponsor, the North Webster United Methodist Church’s annual fish and tenderloin dinner, prep for the first day of school, and once again grab their canoes to paddle Knapp Lake to Indian Village during their September Family Camp/Court of Honor weekend, which was held this year on the “back 40” of the American Legion Post 253 in North Webster.
