Monday evening, Boy Scout Troop 715 gathered at the new Winona Lake Splash Park to donate two benches for the park. Adult leader Trish Hernandez came up with the idea about a year ago and she served as the chairperson for the project. For about five months the Scout families of Troop 715 collected 400 pounds plastic caps and held a fundraiser to raise $400 to purchase the two benches. The project was completed in late March, and the caps plus the check were sent to Green Tree Plastics of Evansville. The benches arrived in mid-August and plaques were made to commemorate the event. Town Coordinator Craig Allebach accepted the benches on behalf of Winona Lake.
