Scott Baker Sets New Record At Ball State University

AVON, Ohio — The Ball State baseball team defeated Miami University 13-7 in the opening game of the Mid-American Conference Tournament Wednesday in Avon, Ohio. Sophomore pitcher Scott Baker, a 2011 Manchester High School graduate, got the win, improving his season record to 12-1, setting a new Ball State record for wins by a pitcher. Baker was named the MAC Pitcher of the Year Tuesday and was also named to the MAC First Team Wednesday. In the win over Miami, Baker pitched eight innings, allowing nine hits and four runs, while striking out four on 95 pitches. Fourth-seeded Ball State advances in the winners bracket and faces top-seeded Kent State today at 4 p.m.
