INDIANAPOLIS – Marsha Scott, Mentone, attended the 113th Psi Iota Xi National Convention in Indianapolis Saturday and Sunday.
Psi Iota Xi meets annually to vote on charitable contributions to be distributed nationally. Three years ago, Psi Iota Xi established a new long-term project that will result in donations of over $100,000 to the Intensive Stuttering Clinic at the University of Toledo.
The last two long-term projects included an endowed professorship at the Indiana University School of Medicine/Riley Hospital and Cleft Palate Research at the University of Illinois.
The theme for convention this year was “Calling All Psi Iotes” and the organization celebrated the accomplishments of this charitable organization, led by Susie Lewis, national president.
Annually, Psi Iota Xi donates nearly $1 million to art, music, literature and speech and hearing projects. Beta Epsilon chapter, Mentone, raises funds through the selling of cheese balls and selling sandwiches at Tippecanoe Valley boys home football and basketball games to contribute to the community through a scholarship, books for Mentone Elementary School Library, Hear Indiana Camp, families in need at Christmas, Bell Aircraft Museum, Riley Hospital and Ronald McDonald House.
