A Milford man was airlifted to a Fort Wayne trauma center Tuesday evening after wrecking his mo-ped just south of Leesburg.
A Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Dept. report stated the driver was impaired at the time of the accident.
According to the report, dispatch received a call just after 6 p.m. that a mo-ped – driven by Terry E. Powell, 49, of 718 E. CR 1250N, Milford – was “all over the roadway” on Ind. 15. Shortly after, Powell’s vehicle left the roadway and wrecked near the intersection of West CR 600N.
Samaritan Medical Transport airlifted Powell to Parkview Medical Center in Fort Wayne to be treated for head and thoracic injuries. According to police, the injuries did not appear life-threatening.
According to police documents, Powell has 10 license suspensions and seven prior convictions. KCSD Public Information Officer Chad Hill said Powell may face preliminary charges after he is discharged from Parkview depending on toxicology results.
