Area schools are gearing up for the 2008-09 school year with registration dates set.
Tippecanoe Valley
Mentone and Akron elementary schools and Tippecanoe Valley Middle School and High School will have registration Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Friday from noon to 8 p.m.
Mentone will have its registration in the cafeteria.High school students new to the Valley district must register by appointment only, Aug. 11-13 between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. To make an appointment, call 574-353-7031, Ext. 2420. Calls for appointments can begin Monday.
Textbook rental fees may be paid by cash, check or credit card.

Wawasee Community Schools
At Wawasee Community Schools, all incoming kindergarten students must register at their school Aug. 7 from noon to 7 p.m. in order for students to go through placement testing. All children who will be 5 years old by this Friday are eligible for kindergarten this year.
Milford School (K-8), Syracuse School (K-5) and North Webster School (K-5) will hold registration Aug. 7 from noon to 7 p.m. and Aug. 11 from noon to 7 p.m.
Wawasee Middle School and Wawasee High School will hold registration Aug. 11 from noon to 7 p.m. and Aug. 12 from noon to 7 p.m.
Warsaw Community Schools
Warsaw Community School Corp. will hold registration dates for all WCS students Aug. 5-8. Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday; noon to 6 p.m. Aug. 6; noon to 6 p.m. Aug. 7; and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 8.
Times to register a Warsaw student other than the listed times are by appointment only. Call a student's school in advance if a translator is needed. To determine which school a student will attend, call the WCS Transportation Dept. at 574-269-1750.
Triton Schools
New students entering Triton High School should call 574-342-6505 to make an appointment to register. New students entering Triton Elementary School should register before Monday by calling 574-342-2355.
The student registration and textbook rental collection dates for students attending THS will be Aug. 6 from 8 a.m. to noon, 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.; and on Aug. 7 from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m.
The hours for registration and textbook rental collection for TES are: Aug. 6, 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 8 p.m.; and Aug. 7, 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m.
Textbooks are to be paid in full, or a payment schedule must be established on these dates for both buildings.
Manchester Schools
All Manchester School Corp. students may be registered 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 7, or 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 8 at the high school. For more information, call the school the student will attend.
Whitko Schools
Whitko Middle School and High School do not have registration dates. However, sixth-grade orientation at WMS is Aug. 7 at 6:30 p.m. Freshman orientation at WHS is Aug. 12 at 6 p.m.
Registration for Pierceton Elementary School is 5 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 11. South Whitley Elementary School will host registration 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 8.
