If you think summer is whipping by a little too fast, just imagine how kids feel: school starts in a little over two weeks.
So here are the registration dates, school starting dates and textbook fees for the school corporations in Kosciusko County (in alphabetical order). In most cases, the registration fees for middle and high school students are not included because they depend on the individual's class schedule:
w Manchester Community Schools - Enrollment dates are Aug. 15 from noon to 7 p.m. and Aug. 16 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Parents of elementary school children are asked to register their kids at the elementary school nearest their home. The first day of school for students is Aug. 21.
Textbooks rental fees are: kindergarten - $45.25; grade 1 - $99; grade 2 - $99.25; grade 3 - $104.75; grade 5 - $78.50; grade 6 - $79.25; Gemini grade 1 - $99.50; Gemini grade 2 - $102.25; Gemini grade 3 - $108.75; Gemini grade 4 - $91.75; Gemini grade 5 - $79.75; Gemini grade 6 - $82.
School lunch fees are $1.60 for elementary students and $1.75 for middle and high school students. Adult lunches cost $2.45.
w Tippecanoe Valley School Corp. - Registration dates for new Tippecanoe Valley High School students are Aug. 7-8 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. For all other students in all other schools, registration is Aug. 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Aug. 10, noon to 8 p.m.
Book rental fees are: kindergarten - $41; grade 1 - $90; grade 2 - $87; grade 3 - $93; grade 4 - $84; grade 5 - $84; grade 6 - $91; grade 7 - $99; and grade 8 - $98.
School lunches will cost $1.35 for elementary and middle school students and $1.40 for high school students.
w Triton Schools - Students may register for school Aug. 8 from noon to 4 p.m. and Aug. 9 from noon to 7 p.m. The first day of school for all students will be Aug. 21.
Textbook fees are: kindergarten - $56.85; grade 1 - $144.99; grade 2 - $121.68; grade 3 - $122.91; grade 4 - $96.77; grade 5 - $107.50; and grade 6 - $101.70.
w Warsaw Community Schools - Registration dates for elementary, middle and high schools are: Aug 8, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Aug. 9 noon to 6 p.m.; Aug. 10, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and Aug. 13, noon to 6 p.m. The first day of school for students will be Aug. 21. Incoming high school freshmen will have an orientation day Aug. 17.
Book fees are: kindergarten - $29; grade 1 - $91; grade 2 - $84; grade 3 - $83; grade 4 - $76; grade 5 - $73; and grade 6 - $77.
Lunch fees are $1.75 for elementary school students, and $2 for middle school and high school students.
w Wawasee Community School Corp. - Students may register for classes at Wawasee High School on Aug. 10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Aug. 13-14 from noon to 7 p.m. For Wawasee Middle School, Milford Middle and Elementary School, Syracuse Elementary and North Webster Elementary, registration is Aug. 13-14 from noon to 7 p.m. (Syracuse Elementary students should register at Calvary United Methodist Church since construction on Ind. 13 makes getting into the school difficult.)
The first school day for all students is Aug. 22.
Textbook rental fees are: kindergarten - $41.65; readiness - $69.25; grade 1 - $86.55; grade 2 - $80.05; grade 3 - $86.35; grade 4 - $99.60; grade 5 - $87; grade 6 - $108.15; grade 7 - $108.05; and grade 8 - $104.25.
School lunch prices are $1.30 for elementary students and $1.50 for middle and high school students.
w Whitko Schools - Registration dates are Aug. 9 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Aug. 10, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Aug. 13, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The first day of school is Aug. 21.
Book fees are: kindergarten - $55; grade 1 - $86; grade 2 - $87; grade 3 - $90; and grade 5 - $80.
