Schools Locked Down As Precaution

Warsaw Community Schools were "locked down" Wednesday afternoon as a safety precaution after reports of a disgrunted student were circulated.

According to Madison Elementary Principal Jeff Neumann, between 12:15 to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, "we got a call that said there was a possibility of a young man running around with a firearm."

The call was from the Central Office, he said, and the school proceeded with the lockdown, which meant all the doors were locked and outside recess was canceled.

Neumann said he made a general announcement to students so they would not be alarmed.

According to Warsaw police, the "young man" was a high school-age student who had had an argument with his parent and left the house with a firearm. The young man was later apprehended.

The schools were notified later Wednesday afternoon that the situation was over and they could end the lockdown.
