Cancelled school today will mean another day added on to the end of the school year for several area school corporations.
Many of the area school corporations incorporate snow days into their calendar to avoid extending the end of the school year. However, some of the school corporations, like Warsaw and Wawasee, have used up the built-in snow days and are adding on days at the end of the year.Warsaw Community School Corp. already used up four of their snow days as of Thursday, extending the last school day for Warsaw students to June 5. With school canceled today, the last day of school for Warsaw Schools now moves to June 6. For any additional days Warsaw Schools cancels because of the weather, an additional day will be added to the end of the school year.

The last day for Wawasee School Corp. as of Thursday was scheduled for May 30. Wawasee already had used up five of its snow days, and the May 30 date reflects an additional day of school being added on to the end of the school year. With school being cancelled today, the last day of school will be a Monday, June 2.

Whitko had one cancellation day left as of Thursday. Whitko had used up only two of its snow days. With Whitko canceling classes today, its last day of school is still scheduled for May 29. Any cancellations after today and Whitko Schools will have to extend the school year.

Manchester Community Schools did not build in snow days for its 2007-08 school year calendar, and had only one cancellation day as of Thursday. The last day for Manchester students was May 29, but with classes cancelled today, that date will move to May 30. If Manchester Schools cancels any more days, the days will be added on in June.

Triton School Corp. had three cancellation days built into its 2007-08 school year calendar. As of Thursday, it had three school days cancelled because of weather. Triton's last student day was scheduled for May 22 as of Thursday. With classes cancelled today, Triton's last day will move to May 23.
