While it may seem, especially to kids, like summer just started, it's already that time again - time to register the children for the new school year.
Following are the dates and times for registration at area school corporations, along with book rental fees.
• Tippecanoe Valley - All students in all Tippecanoe Valley schools may register Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from noon to 8 p.m.
Textbook rental fees for Akron and Mentone elementary schools are: kindergarten, $44; first grade, $93; second grade, $90; third grade, $104; fourth grade, $87; and fifth grade, $87.
At Tippecanoe Valley Middle School, book rental fees are: sixth grade, $97; seventh grade, $105; and eighth grade, $103.
• Triton - Triton students can register Aug. 13, from 8 a.m. to noon, 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.; and Aug. 14, from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m.
Textbook rental fees for Triton Elementary School are: kindergarten, $57.55; first grade, $136.16; second grade, $112.60; third grade, $118.88; fourth grade, $103.70; fifth grade, $113.21; and sixth grade, $104.14.
Book rental fees for Triton Junior-Senior High School students are based on the classes each student takes.
• Warsaw - Fall registration at Warsaw Community Schools begins Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Thursday, noon to 6 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and Monday, noon to 6 p.m. Students should be registered at the school they will attend. If parents have questions about what school that will be, they should call the transportation department at 269-1750.
Elementary school book rental fees are: kindergarten, $46; first grade, $93; second grade, $86; third grade, $91; fourth grade, $85; fifth grade, $94; and sixth grade, $91. Middle school and high school fees will vary according to class schedules.
Elementary and middle school book rental fees are due at the time of registration; high school students will be billed.
First day of school for Warsaw students is Aug. 19.
• Whitko - Registration at Pierceton and South Whitley elementaries begins Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and continues Aug. 11 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Kids who have turned age 5 before July 1 are eligible for kindergarten and can be enrolled during regular registration hours.
Textbook fees for elementary students are: kindergarten, $62; first grade, $115; second grade, $104; third grade, $108; fourth grade, $100; fifth grade, $95.
Middle school and high school students are preregistered.
Sixth-grade orientation for parents and students will be at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 14 in the lecture room and cafeteria at Whitko Middle School. Students will receive their information packets at the orientation, and each packets will include the student's schedule and book fee statement.
Whitko schools start Aug. 19.
• Wawasee - High school students may register Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Aug. 11 and 12, from noon to 7 p.m.
Middle school and elementary students may register Aug. 11 and 12, from noon to 7 p.m.
Textbook rental fees are: kindergarten, $44; readiness, $69.40; first grade, $96.50; second grade, $87.50; third grade, $101.05; fourth grade, $101.25; fifth grade, $95.80. Middle school and high school grades vary.
The first day of school at Wawasee schools is Aug. 20.
