SYRACUSE - Fred Scheer's Lumberjack Shows are coming to Syracuse.
Saturday, the Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber of Commerce will host the shows in the McWest lot, Ind. 13, across from McDonald's.
The three shows are being sponsored by Gross & Sons Lumber Co. and will be at 11 a.m., 1 and 4 p.m. Tickets are $7.50 for adults, $5 for children 5-12 and free for children four and under. Seating is limited.
The shows provide a blend of sports, history and comedy. Captivating audiences for the past 17 years, Scheer's Lumberjack Shows provides images of man against the forest from a sport derived out of the nation's heritage. Featuring skills that were a part of the loggers' everyday work, logger sports require the speed, agility, strength and skill of top athletes.
The show includes six different lumberjack events by top athletes clad in checkered shirts and steel-toed boots. Events include ax throwing, speed chopping, log rolling, cross-cut sawing, hot sawing and chainsaw carving.
Scheer's Lumberjack Shows have been featured on ABC's "Wide World of Sports," TNN, ESPN "Jeep Trails," Discovery Channel's "The Travelers," MTV's "Real World" and "Road Rules" and the Family Channel.
In addition, the chamber, in cooperation with Parker Engineered Seals Division, Syracuse, is sponsoring helicopter rides in the field behind Pat's Chicago Dogs, Ind. 13.
