SYRACUSE – Sasha Ann Hire Stanley, 77, of Syracuse, passed away May 28, 2011, in St. Joseph Medical Center, Mishawaka.
She was born June 23, 1933, in Syracuse, to Millard “Cy” and Ann L. Stover Hire. On Oct. 19, 1958, she married Karol Stanley, who survives.
She was a longtime area resident and lived in Beavercreek, Ohio, for 40 years. She was a research librarian at Dayton Dailey News and taught piano from her home for many years. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star; American Legion 223, Syracuse; Society of Mayflower Descendants; Daughters of the American Revolution; National Rifle Association; and Ham Radio Operators, where he call sign was NA8H. She was a graduate of Indiana University, where she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority.
Also surviving are three sons: Jeff (and spouse Nancy) Stanley, Springboro, Ohio; Kevin Stanley, Beavercreek; and Mark (and spouse Lisa) Stanley, Syracuse; two daughters, Kristin Keyer, Beavercreek, and Karlynne Akos, Destin, Fla.; a brother, Millard “Stover” Hire, Syracuse; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchildren; and two nieces.
Services were at 2 p.m. today at Eastlund Funeral Home, 7458 E. CR 1000N, Syracuse, officiated by Pastor David Herr of Calvary United Methodist Church. Burial was in Syracuse Cemetery.
