Sarah “Sally” A. Smith, 85, Leesburg, passed away at 7:25 a.m. Nov. 24, 2016, at Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw. 
She attended Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis, graduating in 1949. She then attended Franklin College and received her bachelor’s degree in 1953. While there she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. 
Many of her younger years were spent as a summer resident at Lake Tippecanoe with her parents. She was a camper, counselor and teacher at Camp Tippy on Little Tippy for a number of years. 
She was an expert seamstress, making many clothes and accessories for herself and family members. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Warsaw, and was active in UMW, served on several committees and was a member of Fidelity Sunday school class. She was also a member of PEO Sisterhood EJ Chapter and the Lake Tippecanoe Property Owners Association. 
She was an avid reader, visiting Warsaw Community Public Library once a week for many years. She enjoyed traveling, bowling, cross-country skiing, walkathons, swimming and boating. 
She was a full-time resident of Lake Tippecanoe since 1989 and enjoyed the lake to the fullest.  
She was born July 30, 1931, in Indianapolis, to Lena Irene Kendall and Homer C. Asher. On June 25, 1955, she was married to Robert “Bob” E. Smith, who survives in Leesburg. 
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, as well as her son, Dean A. (wife Bridgette) Smith, Clinton Township, Mich.; two daughters, Gwen Shutters, Plainfield, and Karen Ayoub, Warren, Mich.; and five grandchildren: Christian Ayoub, Amanda and Nicholas Shutters, and Morgan and Mason Smith. She was preceded by her parents.  
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, 179 S. Indiana St., Warsaw, officiated by Chaplain Bob Jarboe. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church.
