Sarah Jane Gibbs, 34, Warsaw, daughter of Plymouth residents Howard E. and Betty P. Glaub Gibbs, passed away at her home early Dec. 20, 2014. She had been a resident of the Warsaw area most of her lifetime. She was born at 3:04 a.m. Sept. 24, 1980, on an unusually warm day in Plymouth. She soon joined a brother, Eric, at home, age 5 to the day. By her age of 3, it was determined that Sarah Jane had been experiencing signs of autism. From there, she and her family would experience a life filled with challenges and the wonder of talented gifts. In 1984 the family moved to the Kosciusko County community of Atwood. Through years of dedicated care by her family, school teachers and staff of Cardinal’s supportive living, she was able to complete school and graduate from Warsaw Community High School. She then attained an independent living status, which she truly enjoyed, and the family acknowledges Cardinal Services for those years of providing them comfort with her extended care. Her talents surfaced early and by the age of 6, she displayed her musical abilities and played, or “rocked out” on first the organ and then keyboard all by ear and perfect pitch after simply listening to a program or a song. She often treated the family to a session of Pat Benatar at sometimes unusual hours. She had no favorite anything and enjoyed classical music as well. She would often be mesmerized by programs, movies, movie lines and theme songs like that from “All Dogs Go to Heaven.” She had a vast collection of movies and an overwhelming ability to recall not only film and other media trivia but could tell you the weather on any given day and provide you the exact time and date of her last doctor appointment. She attended the Warsaw First Brethren Church. She spent a great deal of time at the Kosciusko Community YMCA immersed in a variety of exercise classes and over a period of time lost 100 pounds. Surviving are her parents, Howard and Betty Glaub Gibbs, Plymouth; a brother, Eric M. Gibbs and Jennifer Bradley, Warsaw, with Dylan, Dominic and Reagan as nephews and niece. Her paternal grandmother, Rosemary Tatich, of Bremen, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Walter and Margaret Glaub; paternal grandfather, Howard E. Gibbs II; an aunt, Margo Morris; and cousin, Ian Berger. A memorial service be at 7 p.m. Friday at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth. Family and friends will come together to celebrate the life of Sarah Jane Gibbs from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. ***** Memorials to Cardinal Services Inc., 504 North Bay Drive, Warsaw, IN 46580; or Kosciusko Community YMCA 1401 E.
