Sandra Sue Rovenstine, 71, Atwood, died at 4:35 p.m. July 31, 2009, at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
She was born May 6, 1938, in Mentone, to Arthur and Lillian Hatfield Witham. On Nov. 29, 1958, in Warsaw, she married Al Rovenstine, who survives.
She owned and operated Atwood Cafe from 1973 to 1978, was matron of the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department for 16 years and co-owned the Village Antique and Drapery Shoppe. She was a member of the Indiana Sheriff's Association and Kosciusko County Republican Ladies.
Also surviving are three children: Aaron (and spouse Robin) Rovenstine and Nicole (and spouse Rick) Rutherford, all of Atwood, and Nanette (and spouse Bill) DeGaetano, Warsaw; seven grandchildren: Austin and Caleb Rovenstine; Lorenzo, Dominic and Dante DeGaetano; and Trent and Ashleigh Rutherford; a brother, Rex Witham, Mentone; a sister, Betty Zimpleman, Mentone. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Patricia Stutzman and Beverly Johnston and two brothers, Ned Witham and Harry Dean Witham.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Ronnie Sams officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel Thursday.
