Sample, Taste, Drink, Listen To The Finer Things At Annual Event

PIERCETON - From Fort Wayne, the Kevin Piekarski Jazz Trio will be suave and sophisticated in their tuxedos as they perform at the Jazz/Winetasting/Dance in the RR Depot, Pierceton, Oct. 18 beginning at 4 p.m.

Kevin Piekarski is on bass, Jim Steele, keyboard, and Rick Brown, reeds.

Winetasting, and offering beer as well, is to be manned by the crew at Mad Anthony's, Warsaw, and Fort Wayne. It opened in downtown Warsaw March 14, 2006, on Center Street and offers dining and musical entertainment on a regular basis. Wines will be from Bloomington and Indianapolis, and from Michigan and Washington, and from Italy.

Owner of the Depot, Pat Knott, and her Classic Catering group will offer their inimitable hors 'd oeurves. They provide their delicacies to area corporations and private parties. Events will be held at the Depot, which is being extensively renovated.

A coffee and tea station by the Pierceton Blue Lion Coffeehouse will be on hand.

Le Gourmet Chocolate Cafe and Boutique will tantalize chocolate lovers. Jerry and Jackie Long have been in business for 15 years at their downtown location in Warsaw. They have an eclectic selection of gourmet products with candies from the South Bend Chocolate Co.

PURR-fectly Unique Jewelry by Susan Karczewski, an award-winning, selftaught artist for 16 years, will have her array. Karczewski holds classes and has sales in northern Indiana. A photograph of her jewelry is on the cover of a recent book by Susan Ray, "Beaded Jewelry - The Complete Guide."

Roxanne Coffelt had a journey in jewelry-making that began in Shanghai, China, where she learned about pearls. After returning to the United States she began taking jewelry classes and has named her products "Shanghai Tai." An accountant by profession she has taken many classes and workshops to improve her skills, including working with fused glass. Her designs often have an Asian influence.

On display and for purchase will be some of the pieces that the well-known artist, P. Buckley Moss, has created. Among the works will be a new release, "Back Home in Indiana" and "Peace through Rotary Service." Andy Thomas will be represented with Big Dawgs playing Poker, the "True Blues" and others. The Freemans also have the Village Antique Gallerie in Pierceton.

A silent auction will lend action.About 7 p.m. the music of Tim May will play. He is the co-owner of the Depot. May has a fine repertoire of melodies for listening or making the dance floor an irresistible destination. A cash bar will be available at that time.

Purchases may be made at that time or ordered from the vendors. All proceeds will be for the Pierceton Chamber of Commerce.

Corporate, business and personal sponsorships are available until Saturday. They are: gold, $500, get 20 tickets and recognition; Silver, $250, 10 tickets and recognition; Bronze, $100, four tickets and recognition. Single ticket, $25, advance; $30, at the door.
