Salvation Army Angel Tree Collection Ongoing

Posted
The Salvation Army Angel Tree marks its 24th anniversary this year helping families in Kosciusko County with gifts for children 12 and younger.
The first Angel Tree was placed at Kmart in Warsaw in 1988, according to Ken Locke, community ministries director.
Tags are placed on the trees and someone can pick a child’s name to provide a gift, book, hat and gloves.
Locke expects that nearly 750 children will be helped this year through  Angel Trees at Kmart and other businesses and organizations.
The following businesses and organizations sponsor trees for their employees and members: DePuy, Biomet, Medtronic, Warsaw Kiwanis Club, 1st United Methodist Church, Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Winona Lake Free Methodist.
Other businesses sponsoring trees are: Kosciusko REMC, DJ Construction, Dental Solutions, Milford Successful 4H, American Legion Post 49 Auxiliary and Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Four trees also have been added downtown for the new “Book Angel” program where donors are encouraged to purchase a book for a child.
“Book Angel” trees are located at Reinholt's Townsquare Furniture, Mad Anthony's Lake City Tap House, Key Bank and Courthouse Coffee on Buffalo Street.
