Sally S. Hutchinson-Joy, 63, of Pierceton, died at 9:19 p.m. July 7, 2013, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
She was born April 21, 1950, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Talt and Virginia Baldridge Prater. On Jan. 18, 1997, in Claypool, she married Dennis Joy, who survives in Pierceton.
Living most of her life in the Kosciusko County area, she worked for Kmart, Warsaw, for many years and also worked at Biomet for Bertsch Vending Inc., Warsaw, retiring in 2012. She was also a member of God’s Highway To Heaven Church, Warsaw, where she was saved.
She was one who could put a smile on everybody’s face, she didn’t know a stranger. She was a people person who was dearly loved. She loved going to see her grandchildren’s ballgames and entertaining her grandkids. She was known as “Grandma Sally” to everyone who knew her. She was family oriented and loved spending time with her kids and grandkids. She was very active at Jellystone Campground, getting involved in many of the campground activities. She also enjoyed sewing, cooking and playing cards.
Also surviving are five children: Paula (and spouse John) Moore, Winona Lake; Dean (and spouse Celina) Adkins, Pierceton; Sheila (and spouse Ed) Yohe, South Whitley; Billy Hutchinson, Pierceton; and Chris (and spouse Jeremy) Miller, Pierceton; 11 grandchildren: Kierstan and Brady Yates, Nick Moore, Mia De La Cruz, Paige and Anika Adkins, Haley, Hanna and Alex Yohe, and Elizabeth and Hunter Miller; four brothers; and two sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents and late husband, Bill Hutchinson.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor Bob Brown officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.
Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel.
