ELWOOD – Sally A. Cotton-Kane, 64, of Elwood, died Jan. 24, 2013, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, surrounded by her family, following an extensive battle with cancer. She was born June 10, 1948, in Elwood, to Wayne O. and Lorene L. Dobson Wimmer. On July 8, 2004, she married Charles R. “Chuck” Kane, sho survives in Elwood. She was owner and operator of both the Charley and Barney’s Restaurant, Elwood, and the former Beyond the Greens Restaurant at Elwood Golf Course. She formerly co-owned Cotton & Cotton Insurance, Syracuse, for many years. She was a 1966 graduate of Wendell L. Wilkie High School, and later attended Butler University, where she majored in music and dance. While at Butler, she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, and later she became a member of the Psi Iota Xi Service Sorority, North Webster. She loved spending time at her lake home on Tippecanoe Lake, and she especially enjoyed spending time with her beloved grandchildren. She was an avid reader, enjoyed music, crossword puzzles, cross stitching and cooking. She will by greatly missed by her family and friends. Also surviving are two sons, Chris (and spouse Tammy) Cotton, North Webster, and Chad (and spouse Veronica) Cotton, Austin, Texas; two stepsons, Brent (and spouse Melinda) Kane, Elwood, and Kandon Kane (and companion Shannon Croy) Elwood; eight grandchildren: Candice, Trevor, Trent, Kayla Brown, Jacob, Matthew and Paige Cotton and Alex Kane; two great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Cash Brown; a niece, Katie (and spouse Barry) Blackson; and a nephew, Buddy (and spouse Nicole) Wimmer. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Richard Wimmer. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home, Elwood, officiated by Father Larry Biller of All-Saints Episcopal Church, Syracuse. A reception and celebration of life will follow from 3 to 6 p.m. at their family business, Lucky Strike Lanes, Elwood. Burial will be at a later date at Elwood City Cemetery.
