The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department joined forces with Channel 22/WSBT-TV, South Bend, in a fire prevention effort. Channel 22 viewers were asked to contact the station if they needed a smoke detector in their residence. Recent fire fatalities prompted a demand for fire detection and prevention in the WSBT community. Channel 22 provided the KCSD with smoke detectors and KCSD delivered and/or installed them.
