Kosciusko County Coroner John Sadler announced Thursday he will run for re-election.
Sadler, a Republican, will seek his party's nomination in the May primary.
He has served as either chief deputy or coroner in Kosciusko County since 1986."The office of coroner is important to all community members who may have lost family members due to accident, criminal or unknown natural circumstances," said Sadler. "The office, while not one of the more visible offices, is responsible for providing answers to the survivors of these situations as our primary goal."
Sadler cited the county's 100 percent certification score by the state as medical-legal investigators as one of the first in the state.
"Currently, our office is one of the most proactive in the state of Indiana and recognized as such," said Sadler.
Sadler also touted his staff's credentials.
"Our office has the dedication to continue education, forensic training and maintaining the highest professional standards for those we serve," said Sadler.
Sadler also said his office will make the issue of stopping methadone overdoses a priority.
"This office will locally and statewide continue to battle the lethal problem of methadone overdose in this county," said Sadler. "We will continue to cooperate with local officials and families of victims to prosecute individuals responsible for illegal distribution or diversion of this most dangerous drug."
Born in Danville, Ill., Sadler, 47, is a 1978 graduate of Warsaw Community High School and a 1982 graduate of Ball State University with a bachelor's degree in business administration.
He is also a honors graduate of Worsham College of Mortuary Science, served as an intern for the Cook County medical examiner and is a Federal Emergency Management Agency disaster coordinator.
Sadler is the president of McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel.
He and his wife, Deborah, live in Warsaw and have two children, Jessica, 20, and Derek, 18.
