RV Park Owner Asks Pierceton To Extend Sewer Line

Posted

PIERCETON - Leonard Nielsen and his attorney, Millard Plumlee, appeared before the town council Monday with a proposal to install a water and sanitary sewer line to Nielsen's business facility on Arnold Street.

In May, Nielsen, owner of Hide-Away RV, told the board he had purchased two parcels west of town limits and was granted access to the road.

Since then construction of a facility has been complete with a snag - the cost of a commercial well and septic system was prohibitive and Nielsen's research has shown it would be cheaper to extend the utility lines more than 350 feet to his property.

Relatively cheaper, that is. Nielsen presented a cost estimate of more than $13,000 for the project. He said the cost of a commercial system was nearly twice as much.

His proposal was approved pending review by town counsel Jim Walmer.

The proposal also asks for deferral of annexation.

Two members of the Pierceton Lion's Club asked the board about planting trees along Ind. 13. They were directed to get permission from the Indiana Department of Transportation and individual property owners.

The board was introduced to future reserve officer Mark Wise, who is completing schooling. Tanya Watkins will also begin as a reserve officer for town marshal George Alexander soon.

Board members are Tony Kreger, Ron Hall and Terry Hill. The board meets the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in town hall.
