RIDGECREST, Calif - Ruth Leemon Hoppus, 81, of Ridgecrest, Calif., died April 13, 2007, in her residence.
She was born in August 1925, in Milford, to Ortie and Martha Douma Leemon. In December 1944, she married George Hoppus, who preceded her in death.
She lived in Milford until her marriage in 1944, then moved to Warsaw. Her husband's career in the Air Force took her to Texas, Florida, Mississippi, Colorado, Kansas and California. She was a clinic technician at Riverside General Hospital for 12 years. In 1983, she moved back to Milford and became a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Kosciusko County Historical Society, Kosciusko County Genealogy Society and the Columbian Reading Circle. She also was a member of the Milford United Methodist Church.
Surviving are four children: George Tex Hoppus and Susan Hoppus Lasell, both of Ridgecrest, Calif.; Michael Hoppus, Media, Penn.; and John Chris Hoppus, Paso Robles, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
A memorial service will be at a later date in the Milford United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
